Bio-economics of Cooperative Behavior
In recent years, a series of papers on the application of game theories in social biology were published in Logical Biology. This area of research is not a traditional territory of biological research but its implication to biological research and its impact on the expansion of biology’s research scope should not be overlook. The winning of Nobel Prize in economics by pioneers in the development of the game theories shows the importance of an interdisciplinary influence. Publications of bio-economic papers by a biology journal will further expand this interdisciplinary influence for a better and new biology.

Hiring Bias in NIH? Biased for Whom?
A series of letters were recently published in Science on the “glass ceiling” phenomenon for the Asian biomedical scientists in the US research institutes. The formation of such a phenomenon certainly has many different causes and reasons behind those causes. But a hostile attitude towards unfamiliar foreign faces and their cultures is an unnoticeable cause. This attitude was clearly revealed in a letter published in Science. The appearance of such a publication in a top journal is amazing. The rejection to publish a letter criticizing that scientifically wrong and politically incorrect letter by Science is even unbelievable.

2005: A Remarkable Year to Remember
In communicating scientific discoveries and ideas, Logical Biology sets a new standard and format. Its adherence to logical reasoning as a major principle, as compared with obeying the authority as the only principle, for selecting a manuscript for publication helps it bravely and early report many important discoveries. This logical reasoning also helps it becomes an active “watch dog” for monitoring “top” journals and identifying their mistakes when they are still perceived as glory scientific advancements. Using a personal reflection this closing remark shows some examples of such achievements in Logical Biology in 2005. It is hoped that by objectively evaluating some publications in Logical Biology and some related publications in the “top” journals one can come to a reasonable appreciation to this new journal and raise some cautions against blindly trusting the “top” journals.
